Australia XI too good for SA

SYDNEY — The Cricket Australia XI side has defeated South Africa by 22 runs in a T20 tour match at North Sydney Oval yesterday.

After being sent in to bat first the CA XI side put on 5-189 from their 20 overs, which the South Africans failed to chase down, finishing all out for 167 in the 19th over.

CA XI captain Ashton Turner anchored his side’s innings with an impressive knock of 73, which included seven fours and three sixes.

Seb Gotch hit a quick-fire 40 runs from 25 balls, while Alexander Keath (30) and James Peirson (24) also contributed well at the top of the order.

Kyle Abbott was the pick of the South African bowlers, finishing with figures of 2-22.
