Awards: Local group off to Canada

2008-07-06 00:00

The Centre for Environment, Agriculture and Development (CEAD) scooped one of four Global Best Awards recently and they will be jetting off to Helsinki in Finland in September to receive the award.

The awards are bestowed by the International Partnership Network and the Conference Board of Canada.

The award recognises CEAD and its partners for their joint contribution in enabling economic development through enterprise and livelihood interventions, particularly for empowering rural women in business.

CEAD is one of several groups that are in partnership with the University of KwaZulu-Natal, including Inina Craft Agency and the Zulu Agricultural Central Credit Union (ZACCUC).

ZACCUC specialises in assisting women in establishing a craft business. Inina’s purpose is to market products and to assist these enterprises in responding to market demand.
