Bad weather leaves many injured

A WET weekend on the province’s roads kept paramedics across KZN busy, with accidents leaving scores injured.

Netcare911 spokesperson Santi Steinman said that four people were injured when a car overturned on the R33 near New Hanover yesterday.

In a separate accident 12 people were injured when a taxi overturned near Eston between Pietermaritzburg and Durban.

A man was killed on Saturday night when he was hit by a car while crossing the M13 near Gillitts. Steinman said paramedics tried for 40 minutes to resuscitate the man, but to no avail.

Netcare also dealt with an accident involving two cars on the southbound carriageway of the N3 outside Pietermaritzburg on Saturday in which a four-month-old baby was injured.
