Bafana: Need spiritual upliftment?

2010-06-10 00:00

WHILE some of the Mexican players will be looking for spiritual upliftment, strength and courage in the House of Candomble, an old African religion, Bafana will pray and hope that the Traditional Healers’ Organisation (THO) will perform its own spiritual upliftment for them ahead of tomorrow’s opening game against Mexico.

The THO has put together a strong team of 1 200 elderly healers with specialist knowledge to protect and retain the World Cup in Africa.

Healers have been invited from all four cardinal points of the country.

“It is here, let us not let it off our hands,” said the president of the THO, traditional doctor Nhlavana Maseko.

Only elderly healers with a clean heart and the utmost power have been invited to participate in this ritual. Younger practitioners will only be involved in the administration of the event.

“We are requesting communities to maintain peace and demonstrate love so that we can collect as much energy as possible, and then work with that energy to bring back what is desired,” said Maseko.

Performances will start today from 5 pm until 8 pm. “Tomorrow they will proceed from 4.30 am until 7.30 am to ensure that all the energies that we would have collected from the river flows and pathways are all pure and untampered with. Only clean and pure children, together with the elderly, will be responsible for doing this technical work,” said Maseko.

He said: “We trust that all our people will be with us in spirit, ensuring that the best comes back to Africa. Africa ke Nako!”
