Barritt blow may force team re-shuffle

2008-06-25 00:00

JOHN Plumtree, the Sharks coach, has made just one change to his line-up for tomorrow night’s Currie Cup game against Boland at King’s Park, but the injury to flyhalf Brad Barritt might force him to make a second.

The only change to the starting line-up is on the wing, where JP Pietersen — included in the Tri-Nations squad — is replaced by speedster Lwazi Mvovo.

But Plumtree may have to change at flyhalf, where Barritt is facing a late fitness test. Andrew Borgen, son of former Natal scrumhalf Brian, is on stand-by to replace Barritt, while Monty Dumond is on the bench asa back-up.

Plumtree has provided lock Steve Sykes with another chance to find his feet at flank, while BJ Botha, the Bok tighthead prop dropped by national coach Peter de Villiers, has not been included.

There are also changes to the bench, with Nikolai Blignaut in for Albert van den Berg while scrumhalf Charl McLeod replaces the injured Scott Mathie.

The match kicks off at 7.10 pm.

The Cavaliers suffered a huge setback yesterday when their captain and hooker Conrad Burke was ruled out for three months with a torn pectoral muscle.
