THE day was warm and the cricket was hot with some fine individual performances on the first day of the 51st Oppenheimer Cricket Week hosted by Maritzburg College. The dry conditions suited the batsmen with fast outfields and generally flat pitches.
There were three tons scored — Yasser Cook 105 for St Stithians against DHS, Sean Cox 101 not out for St Davids against Hilton and Kapila Cele an undefeated 103 for the KZN Invitation XI against Affies.
