2011-10-25 00:00

IF you are being driven batty by bats there is an opportunity to get some expert advice and to help the University of KwaZulu-Natal with research into insectivorous bats in and around Pietermaritzburg.

UKZN’s Dr Joy Coleman said they want to update the records of different bat species and of the numbers of bats roosting in buildings in the city.

Anyone keen to contribute to the research, or needing advice on bat problems, should call Dr Coleman at 083 720 4063 or e-mail colemanj

Researchers will need people’s names and contact details and will want to visit the houses concerned to determine the species and numbers of bats roosting there.
