Baxter struggling to sign new players

CAPE TOWN — Following their failure to secure the services of Ajax Cape Town winger Lebogang Manyama, Kaizer Chiefs head coach Stuart Baxter has admitted he is finding it tougher than expected when it comes to recruiting new players to Naturena.

The reigning PSL champions are eager to boost their squad ahead of next year’s CAF Champions League that they will begin against Namibian outfit Black Africa on the weekend of February 7-9.

According to a report on the Kick Off website, club management assured Baxter that there is a budget for increasing their playing options but the former Bafana Bafana mentor stated that signing players is easier said than done, especially considering that other teams are aware of their January transfer window intentions.

It was also speculated on Tuesday that Moroka Swallows striker Edward Manqele could join the Glamour Boys.

Manqele is currently on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns and Chiefs team manager Bobby Motaung, reportedly admitted their interest in the former Free State Stars forward.
