Baxter’s contract is renewed

JOHANNESBURG — Kaizer Chiefs and coach Stuart Baxter have agreed to continue their relationship for an additional two years, extending his stay at Naturena to 2016, the club said on its website this week.

The executive chairperson, Kaizer Motaung, football manager Bobby Motaung and Baxter expressed delight at the turn of events in the Chiefs’ boardroom as they agreed to the new terms on Thursday afternoon.

Motaung said: “It was imperative for us to renew and extend the contract because it is all about continuity and being able to continue with our goals. Continuity is important in this kind of setup.

“In this kind of business, you need to be able to look at not today, but how you progress into the future. It is about sustainability. It is a journey full of challenges and we have to be ready for the challenges.”

A visibly delighted Baxter said: “When we won the double last season, I saw how many people we had affected. I would like to see us continuing to affect people positively and stimulate people to stretch themselves even further.”
