Beach market booming

2010-12-13 00:00

THE second South Coast Christmas Market got under way at St Michaels beach on Friday and enjoyed strong support at the weekend, according to event co-ordinator Jo-Ellen Canovi.

The 175 stalls set up in a marquee alongside the main beach have attracted exhibitors of hand-crafted products from all over the country.

“It has gone very well so far and people have been very supportive,” said Canovi.

“The market this year is a lot bigger than the one we had last year and it is running for twice as long.”

Canovi said the unique nature of the products would lend to its success.

“All of the products are unique. You can do your entire Christmas shopping under one tent,” she said.

“There aren’t really markets like this on the coast or in KwaZulu-Natal; they are usually more of a Cape Town thing.”

The market will be running every day until December 30, from 10 am to 8 pm.
