Big Nuz make big noise in Durban to celebrate awards

CHAMPION kwaito act Big Nuz celebrated their three MTN South African Music Awards at a special autograph session and concert for their fans in Durban yesterday.

The group, who hail from uMlazi, have taken the South African music industry by storm, winning Album of the Year and Kwaito Album of the Year, and for their song Umlilo, Record of the Year by public vote at the recent South African Music Awards.

Their album Undisputed, is popular everywhere from nightclubs to taxi ranks.

To thank their thousands of supporters, Big Nuz members Mampintsha, R Mashesha and Danger visited Durban station and the Moses Mabhida stadium and performed at Currie’s Fountain.

During a press briefing, the group thanked God and their fans for helping them win the awards. They said they were happy to be “home” and hoped to spend the day interacting with their fans.

“Winning three awards has shown us just how much SA fans appreciate us and has confirmed to us that hard work has paid of …” said Big Nuz manager Nkule Mthembu.

Big Nuz also handed over blankets and food items to Cotlands, a community-based group that cares for HIV-positive children.
