SOUTH African guitarist Dan Patlansky and Liz Mandeville from the United States are among the artists who will be taking part in the Durban International Blues Festival, which runs at Wilson’s Wharf from September 28 to October 3.

With more than 13 performances running nightly from Tuesday to Friday, the organisers are looking forward to seeing the venue packed out with both die-hard blues supporters and new blues fans. “That’s been the aim — to educate music lovers to the subtle difference of blues and to capture their attention by showing them they have in fact been listening to blues all their lives, Elvis Presley being a perfect example,” says event publicist Tanya van Agthoven Marais.

Also on the bill are the Will’s Blues Band, Sea Level, Jack Rabbit Slims, Shabalala Rhythms, Blues Experience, Tim Wells Blues Band, the Red Hand Blues Band, Tammy Saville, Sippies Blues Band and Rowan Stuart.

The weekend of October 2 and 3 sees the culmination of the sixth annual Durban International Blues Festival with gala performances by top names on theglobal blues circuit.
