POLICE are still waiting the results of an autopsy on the body of an unidentified man found in the debris of the collapsed Tongaat Mall construction site early this week. It’s believed that the man could have been a mugger who stole a necklace from a woman from the nearby Golden Sun supermarket and who then ran across the road near the mall construction site. Detectives believe the man was in the rubble for at least two weeks before he was found. The dead man was wearing a brown shirt and three-quarter length brown trousers and a necklace was found close to the body. Police spokesman Captain Thulani Zwane said yesterday that police were still waiting for post-mortem and DNA results for an official cause of death. “The case is still under investigation. After we have receiving post-mortem results, we will be able to announce the cause of death.” Meanwhile, another police spokesman, Colonel Jay Naicker, confirmed that rumours doing the rounds suggested the man was a robber but that this was still being investigated.
