Bogus jobs: Metro not advertising

2012-01-13 00:00

ETHEKWINI metro police have received more than 2 000 job inquiries after an advert was falsely circulated advertising vacant positions.

Metro police spokesperson senior-superintendent Eugene Msomi appealed to members of the public yesterday to ignore the adverts as they are bogus .

“The Municipality would like to alert all citizens that this is a hoax and if you should receive this message, please ignore it.

“We have had over 2 000 people inquiring about these positions and the public should know that this is a hoax.”

Spokesperson for the eThekwini municipality Thabo Mofokeng said after investigations, it was established that a recruitment website had uploaded the false advertisement where it advertised vacancies and learnerships on behalf of the municipality and the advertisement will be pulled.

It was reportedly placed by a now very apologetic webmaster, who had assumed the Metro Police would again be recruiting as they have done in previous years.
