Boks likely to use Rossouw for All Blacks game

WELLINGTON — With lock Flip van der Merwe also on his way home, and Alistair Hargreaves training without any discomfort on Tuesday, it looks like the Boks will again utilise Danie Rossouw as a loose forward.

The Sharks’ lock combination of Hargreaves and Gerhard Mostert (now at Stade Francais) look set to pack down against the All Blacks, with Rossouw to be used at No 8.

His spot at flank could be taken up by either Jean Deysel or Ryan Kankowski.

Springbok coach Peter de Villiers also confirmed that injured flank Heinrich Brüssow will be released to play 20 minutes for the Cheetahs in the Currie Cup next week.

“We will give him 20 minutes and if he performs well he will be considered for the home leg of the Tri-Nations,” said De Villiers.

However, things are not looking good for Juan Smith, who is recovering from an Achilles injury, to get fit for the World Cup.

“We are worried that he hasn’t yet reached the level we hoped he would,” the coach said about the star Free State flank.
