Botched robbery: worker and teen seriously hurt

2011-06-21 00:00

A HOWICK West teenager was shot in the leg and a domestic worker assaulted when three men, one of them masquerading as a police officer, attacked them in their house in a botched robbery yesterday.

The teenager and the worker are in a serious condition in hospital.

Police spokesperson Captain Lolly Moodley said the suspects arrived in a grey VW Polo.

They entered the Acacia Road house at about 1pm and produced firearms, demanding that the domestic worker let them in under the guise of investigating a car theft case.

The 17-year-old boy had just returned from school when the incident happened.

The suspects began to panic, said Moodley, and they assaulted the victims.

While this was happening, a quick-thinking neighbour who watched the assault contacted the police.
