Boys and girls compete equally in shooting

THE KwaZulu-Natal school Bisley took place at Maritzburg College last weekend. There were 127 shottists from nine schools at the Bisley.

On the results in two categories, shottists were selected in the U13, U16 and U21 age groups to participate in the South African Bisley in Pretoria from September 29 to the October 3.

An experimental section, Open Sight, has also been included but only at U13 level. Both girls and boys compete on an equal footing. Girls in the teams are marked with an asterisk.

Springer section:

U13: L. Claasen, N. Smuts, H. Harris, M. Myburg (all Lucas Meyer-Vryheid)

U16: C. Martin (Maritzburg College), N. Janse van Rensburg* (Voortrekker), J. Liebenberg, H. Winter-Greyling (both Pionier-Vryheid)

U21: A. Webb*, J. Pienaar, C. Els* (all Pionier), S. Frost (Hilton)

Sporter section:

U13: L. Martens (Lucas Meyer), J. Nel, T. Harilal, C. Freeguard (all Mooi River Primary)

U16: J. du Plessis* (Ferrum-Newcastle), J. Smith (M College), M. Swanepoel* (Pionier), D. Sonnekus (Ferrum)

U21: K. Durgaparsad, J. Hundermark (both M College), T. Smuts (Pionier), W Pelser (Ferrum)

U13 Open Sight: V. Shankarbabu, K. Dreyer, K. Padayachee (all M College), C. Bartlett (Mooi River)

The boys’ captain will be Kashmir Durgaparsad from Maritzburg College with junior Denar Sonnekus from Ferrum as the vice-captain. The girls’ captain is Anina­ Webb from Pionier and the junior vice-captain is Juanita du Plessis from Ferrum.
