2014-06-17 00:00

IT was the best Father’s Day present Springbok Bryan Habana could have wished for.

The flying wing’s wife, Janine, gave birth to their son, Timothy Jacob, at 2.05 pm on Sunday.

The baby was born in a Cape hospital.

On Saturday evening, Habana scored two tries in the Boks’ emphatic win over Wales at King’s Park in Durban.

He announced the baby’s arrival with a photograph posted on Twitter.

The birth capped a big week — Habana celebrated his 31st birthday on Thursday.

Springbok media manager De Jongh Borchardt said Janine and the baby are doing well and Habana was overjoyed with his special Father’s Day gift.

Timothy tipped the scale at

3,695 kg and is 52 cm long.

Habana, via Borchardt, thanked his fans and friends for their love and prayers.

“We can’t describe how blessed, lucky and happy we are,” he said.
