A BUS accident left 40 people injured, four seriously, when the vehicle overturned on the Mid-Illovo Road near the police station yesterday evening.

Provincial police spokesperson Captain Thulani Zwane said the passengers were coming from a wedding in Ndwedwe. The driver lost control on a corner.

Zwane said one of the patients was trapped in the twisted frame of the bus, while the other injured were found scattered across a large area.

Four of the commuters were critically injured while the other 36 sustained injuries ranging from serious to minor, said Zwane.

“The driver is among the critically injured … A case of reckless and negligent driving is under investigation,” he said. — Witness Reporter.
