2013-11-15 00:00

TWO police constables from the flying squad unit will accompany five co-accused in the docks at the Pietermaritzburg regional court for the kidnapping of Underberg businessman Mohsin Patel.

The Himeville Magistrate’s Court yesterday transferred the case to the regional court.

Flying squad members Jasandra Supal (42) and Sizwe Nhlanhla Mkhize (30) with their co-accused Khalid Amin (35), Atif “Cheema” Nasim (32), Sikander Akhder (35), Nadeem Akhder (35) and Nasir Ali (24) face charges in connection with the alleged abduction of Patel, who was held in captivity for 22 days, by people he reportedly believed to be business rivals.

Patel was found in July chained to a bed in a house in Port Shepstone.

Supal and Mkhize are out on R1 000 bail. They will be back in court in November 25.
