Bux on bail awaiting appeal

2012-11-30 00:00

A NORTHDALE man, Nazeer Bux (27), who was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment earlier this year for the murder of Mohamed Vally in October 2010, has been granted R5 000 bail.

This after he successfully petitioned the high court for leave to appeal his conviction and sentence.

His attorney, Anand Pillay, confirmed that regional court magistrate Sello Maboee this week granted Bux bail pending his appeal, which will be heard by a full bench of the KZN high court.

Bux was found guilty in September of stabbing Vally to death with a dagger and of assaulting Vally’s brother, Faheez, with intent to do him grievous bodily harm.

The incident was sparked by a dog fight in the street on October 29, 2010.
