By royal invitation: Underberg pilot to attend Will and Kate’s wedding

2011-04-26 00:00

A KWAZULU-NATAL man has scored what even Tony Blair could not — an invitation to Prince William’s wedding on Friday.

Underberg pilot Charlie Strachan, who works for Kenya-based Tropic Air, was invited to the wedding after he became friendly with the prince two years ago in Kenya.

His brother, Kelvin, said yesterday by telephone from the Splashy Fen music festival, “He’s already in London, but I have the invitation here.”

He said his brother got to know William while hiking on Mount Kenya. “The prince was a guest of the Craig family.” Ian Craig is a co-owner of the Rutundu bush camp on the slopes of Mount Kenya where William proposed to Kate Middleton in October last year.
