CMA probes ‘snatcher’

2013-06-07 00:00

THE Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) is investigating complaints that a runner allegedly took a Mickey Mouse doll, pink ear muffs and baby’s pacifier from children along the route.

Dave Gibson, chair of the CMA, yesterday said they had received written and telephonic complaints about Tshokela Maphori (32), a runner from Polokwane in Limpopo.

He said that the incident had already been referred to the CMA’s governing body for possible disciplinary steps.

Gibson said the CMA viewed the complaints in a very serious light and did not condone such actions at all. “This is not in the spirit of the Comrades.”

Maphori allegedly took a Mickey Mouse doll from Arman Moodliar (5) and the ear muffs from Ryanne Toll (10) as he jogged past them.

He allegedly grabbed a pacifier from at least one baby, too.
