‘CSI’ season five starts today

FANS of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation will be able to catch up with the Las Vegas crime scene investigators on SABC3 on Monday and Tuesday nights at 10 pm, starting today.

In tonight’s season five opener, Greg Sanders’s first day in the field has him assisting Gil Grissom’s investigation of a fatal nightclub shooting. Meanwhile, Catherine investigates the death of a stripper in a hotel room with multiple blood sprays on its wall; Warrick solves the truth behind the death of a man electrocuted in his own bathtub; and Sara and Nick have the strangest of cases as an “alien” is found half-buried in Area 51.

Other highlights this week:


• 50/50 — SABC2 at 7.30 pm: The award-winning documentary returns to provide information on wildlife, and looks at environments such as rural, township and suburban.

• The Amazing Race — SABC3 at 7.30 pm: The 10 remaining teams travel from Stechelberg in Switzerland to Salzburg in Austria. En route they ride a cable car to the top of a mountain and one person has to make a game-changing decision when a groin injury puts his team’s destiny in Mother Nature’s hands.


• Cashmere Mafia — SABC3 at 8.30 pm: American dramedy about a quartet of bright, driven women who support each other through rocky marriages, rival colleagues, kids’ recitals and the hunt for the perfect loft.

• Afro Café — SABC2 at 10 pm: This week African Soul Sisters pay tribute to the legendary Miriam Makeba, there is a live performance from the talented Concord Nkabinde, and Yvonne Chaka Chaka proves again why she is the reigning princess of Africa.


• Modern Family — M-Net at 7.30 pm: Claire finally convinces Phil that it’s time to get rid of their old station wagon, prompting everybody to take a trip down memory lane. Meanwhile, Mitchell decides to build Lily a life-size princess castle and Manny invites a cute girl over to study, which doesn’t sit well with Gloria.


• Star Wars: The Clone Wars — Cartoon Network, (DStv channel 301) at 5.55 pm: In this new season of the CG animated series the fate of the galaxy hangs in the balance and the destiny of the “Chosen One” is uncovered.

• First Class All The Way — SABC3 at 7.30 pm: Sara Duffy, founder of a Los Angeles based multi-million dollar travel concierge business, takes viewers inside the world of high-end luxury travel, while revealing the drama of keeping demanding clients content and making extravagant dream vacations come to life.


• Music Moves Me — SABC3 at 4.30 pm: Guest performers are the hip-hop/rappers Deep Level and there is an interview with the multi-talented A.K.A.
