Cable theft: Dalton runs dry

2013-05-13 00:00

CABLE theft left Dalton residents without water last week.

Umgungundlovu District Municipal staff members worked through the night and were able to restore the water supply within 24 hours, spokesperson, Mbali Mwandla, said yesterday.

Mwandla said an electric panel box and cables that supplied electricity to the pump station at the Cool Air resevoir were stolen and water could not be pumped into the reticulation system that fed water to the residential areas of Dalton.

She added that besides depriving residents of water, the theft heightened problems with the already frail infrastructure.
