Call to develop caravan park site

2009-05-29 00:00

THE Msunduzi Municipality is to call once again for proposals to develop the site previously occupied by the Msunduzi Caravan Park.

It was agreed at a recent Exco sitting that the land be put out to tender and that at least 40% should be allocated for Black Economic Empowerment purposes.

The soon-to-be-prepared public tender document makes provision for absolute purchase, rental or for a private public partnership in disposing of the area.

No value has been placed on the land as yet, but the council will carefully examine all submitted amounts before establishing the best offer. An estimated R35 million is needed for roadworks to connect the site to the N3 highway.

A previous call for proposals to develop the area led to a legal dispute.
