Two employees of a well-known car accessory company who were allegedly operating as part of a theft syndicate were arrested this week in a police trap where goods valued at about R1 million were seized.
The men, who worked for a company, the name of which is known to Weekend Witness, were nabbed on Thursday on the north coast road by the Durban Organised Crime Unit.
They were found in possession of a truckload of 10 diesel oil drums and three sets of sports rims. The total value is estimated at R1 million.
They are believed to be part of a syndicate that steals from their employers and sells to unsuspecting customers.
The syndicate is well organised and some of the suspects live in Umhlanga and upper suburbs of Durban and are not easily detected through ordinary investigations,” a police spokesman said.
