Career best for Inland captain

2012-01-13 00:00

AFTER winning the toss, KwaZulu-Natal Inland captain Kyle Nipper earned the best first-class figures of his career while the KwaZulu-Natal Coastal batsmen got in and then got out on day one of the provincial Three-Day Challenge match at Kingsmead in Durban yesterday.

Nipper took six for 56 as the Coastal first innings folded for 233 before Inland reached 64 for the loss of one wicket at the close.

Coastal’s Bruce Kruger got 48 off 98 balls with five boundaries before Nipper trapped him in front while Gareth Roderick, with whom he shared the highest partnership, also saw his hard work vanish in a hurry when he was caught and bowled by the Inland skipper for 39.

Bradley Barnes, Matt Hulett, Cameron Delport and Abdul Razak all got into the twenties before either Nipper or opening bowler Rudi Hillermann (two for 36) disposed of them.
