Cascades shopping centre to host Fun, Family and Fitness Spring Day

A CASCADES shopping centre has introduced adventure racing in line with s trend for more and more people move to outdoor fitness events and hobbies as part of their lifestyle choices.

On Sunday, September 11, the shopping centre will host its first annual Cascades Fun, Family and Fitness Spring Day.

The event offers entertainment for the whole family and starts with an adventure race at 9 am.

On Sunday, the first 100 swimmers to enter for the 39th aQuelle Midmar Mile can win prizes offered by a new sponsor, Sportsman’s Warehouse, which will host registration for the annual open-water contest, at the Cascades Centre.

The first 100 children under the age of 12 who enter will receive a Spur Bravery Award and a free meal.

There will also be a skate park hosted by the Indigo Skate Camp. Skateboards will be provided for everyone who is interested professionals will be on hand to introduce the sport to novices.

For the adrenaline junkies there will be a paintball course.

For cycling enthusiasts there will be BMC demo bikes for the public to test ride, as well as a loaded hill climb.

Cycle Lab Maritzburg will be on site with a shop and bike mechanics. They will also have

KTM will supply demo motorbikes ridden and autographed by the South African cricket team.

The the Springboks’ opening Rugby World Cup match against Wales will be shown in the main marquee on a four-by-three-metre outdoor screen with full sound.

The day will be offer with entertainment for all ages. There will be great food from Coffeeberry Cafe, Pine Ridge Spur and sushi treats from Saki.

With the opening of the new Virgin Active gym pending at Cascades, there will be an onsite promotion team with giveaways and advice on fitness and lifestyle.

There will be live bands and a kiddies’ area, where parents can entertain them or watch as they play with Barney and friends.
