Case adjourned for bail application

THE five accused in the alleged gang rape of a 16-year-old South Coast schoolgirl appeared in in camera proceedings at the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

The case has been adjourned to next week to hear a bail application for the 21-year-old accused.

He continues to remain in police custody.

His four juvenile co-accused are in the custody of their legal guardians.

No pleas have been made yet.

The juveniles, aged 15, 16 and 17, were suspended from school by the Education Department this week.

They were arrested last week for the alleged gang rape of a fellow pupil on Port Shepstone Beach.

The rape was filmed on a cellphone.
