Catwomen prowl the streets in search of their lost tabby cat

2013-06-03 00:00

CATWOMEN Anthea and Poppy Forder-Eagles took to the streets dressed as cats on Saturday to publicise the loss of their beloved tabby cat, Noa.

The couple recently moved from Montrose to Prestbury and though Noa seemed settled and happy in her new home, on May 6 she disappeared.

“We searched and searched the streets, put up flyers and ads in the area and knocked on as many doors as I can count,” said Poppy. “We put up ads on the net and have spoken to pet psychics, but nothing is working.”

So the couple decided to hit the streets. “When Noa went I began researching about lost cats,” said Poppy, “and I read about this lady in the United States who lost her cat and made herself a big fluffy cat outfit. She went out on the streets to let people know about her cat — which she found two months later — and I thought why don’t we do that.”

Noa is a five-year-old female tabby. “She has green eyes, white little paws and short hair. Although she is tricoloured, she has distinctive ginger patches around her back leg. She has short hair and is a petite cat.”

The Forder-Eagles made a sandwich board and handed out leaflets to passersby as they walked from Prestbury to Montrose via Victoria Road on Saturday. “We got a lot of positive feedback,” said Poppy. “And some negative feeback from people who thought we were selling something.”

The couple are offering R500 reward to anyone who helps them find Noa. They can be reached on 084 912 7112.
