Celine tour suppliers waiting to be paid

2008-04-12 00:00

Companies that supplied services for the Celine Dion tour are still owed millions and are now comparing notes in preparation for a tough liquidation battle.

According to Janine Dold, from Spotted Zebra Catering in Durban, suppliers from Durban, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town have been struggling to survive.

She said that despite forking out millions upfront to meet the demands of tour organiser Kusasa, numerous requests and demands for payment have been ignored.

She said it has now emerged that Kusasa owner Duncan Heathfield’s previous company, 3 C Africa, was in the media before regarding his bad payments policies for the Westlife and Michael Bolton concerts.

"Many of these suppliers are now struggling to make ends meet, having settled their own debts to suppliers for additional staff and supplies," said Dold.

"One has even considered selling her house to pay her suppliers while hoping to be paid by Kusasa."
