Celtis at the Red Door

2010-09-03 00:00

PERFORMING at the Maritzburg Musicians’ Club on Tuesday will be Durban-based band Celtis, with the classical guitarist Peter Tennant, the support act.

Celtis developed out of the huge enjoyment of Irish traditional music, which draws from a long Celtic tradition with connections all over Europe. The band has reworked some of the traditional arrangements to make the music its own, and has also composed contemporary music in a neo-Celtic vein.

Celtis is made up of Ant Cawthorn-Blazeby (violin), Keri Povall (flute, whistle and voice), and Ron Uken (guitar and bodhran).

The event takes place at The Red Door in Pietermaritzburg. Entry is R20.
