Charge withdrawn against towing firm owner

2014-07-30 00:00

A MURDER charge was withdrawn against towing company owner Prasheem Ramnarayan of Mr Towing in the magistrate’s court yesterday.

He and his driver, Gitesh Ragunatha (19) of Howick West, were previously both charged with the murder of rival tow truck owner Virendhra Dewcharan, who was beaten with a golf club on June 18 at Hilton.

He died in hospital on July 8.

Yesterday Ragunatha (19) was released on R1 000 bail and his trial postponed to August 28.

The murder is alleged to arise from a dispute over who would tow a car that had been involved in an accident.
