Charity: Cameron’s R51?000 trunks

2012-09-21 00:00

THE swimsuit Cameron van der Burgh wore to win Olympic gold has been sold at auction for R51 000.

An unidentified woman bought the world record-setting trunks on Wednesday evening at an auction to raise funds for the charity organisation, Caring Daisies.

The trunks fetched the evening’s highest price, as bidders paid a total of R170 000 to play golf with celebrities including Victor Matfield and singer Bobby van Jaarsveld.

Organiser Anria van Heerden said an anonymous buyer paid R24 000 for a round of golf with former Miss SA Nicole Flint.

The total amount raised was almost R1 million.
