Chase Valley: three-way pile-up

2010-12-22 00:00

TWO people were seriously hurt and three others sustained minor injuries when a light motor vehicle and two bakkies collided in Chase Valley Road in Pietermaritzburg yesterday morning.

It is believed that the light motor vehicle was turning into a driveway, when a silver bakkie crashed into the side of the light motor vehicle.

The third bakkie, which tried to avoid the accident, crashed into the back of the silver bakkie.

ER24 paramedics found the three vehicles close to one another.

All the occupants of the vehicles were already out of the cars and seated along the road.

Two patients suffered possible neck and back injuries and three other occupants were treated for minor lacerations and abrasions.

All the patients were taken to Northdale Hospital.

• Traffic moved at a snail’s pace for several hours on the N3 northbound yesterday morning after a truck rolled, causing an obstruction on the road.

One person was slightly injured.
