Chayse Orsmond crowned KZN enduro champion

2012-11-06 00:00

CHAYSE Orsmond (Fever Criterion Yamaha) clinched the 85cc Senior Class Championship with victory in the fifth and final round of the KwaZulu-Natal Regional Cadet Enduro Championship in New Hanover recently.

The Creston College pupil kept his cool in the all-important season finale to see off runner-up Michael Wolhuter by two minutes, 28 seconds to seal his maiden provincial title ahead of his closest rival, Dean Lindsay, who finished second in the championship after a fourth-place finish in New Hanover. Fellow South Coast rider Charl van Eeden finished fifth on the day and in the championship.

Orsmond’s team-mates, Damien Scott and Travis Teasdale, made it a Fever Criterion Yamaha hat-trick as they secured the Open 250cc and Open 125cc Class Championships respectively. Scott placed second in New Hanover, which was enough for him to take the spoils after he had established a healthy lead over the course of the five-race season.

South Coast riders Kyle Flanagan and Tyler Robins finished third and eighth on the day. Flanagan missed much of the campaign due to a broken wrist and ankle that relegates him to eighth on the final championship standings, with Robins finishing two places ahead of him in sixth.

Teasdale dominated the 125cc championship throughout the year and capped his campaign with another commanding win of over half-an-hour.

Zak Ivins finished second in the Senior Clubmans Class Championship, behind Jared Matthee, with fellow South Coast rider Brent Syren fifth.
