Cheers: To KZN’s first digital tv channel

2012-11-14 00:00

KWAZULU-Natal’s first television channel working off a digital platform officially launched on DStv last night.

Based in Richards Bay, 1KZNTV can now be found on channel 261 on the satellite provider’s bouquet of channels.

Station manager Edwin Mncw-ango said he was over the moon.

He assured the viewers that the station would still be available on free-to-air (aerial) and Top TV. The switch took place at exactly 6 pm yesterday evening.

Mncwango said the station has joined hands with local and commercial provincial radio stations such as iGagasi FM and Vuma FM in Umhlanga.

“We want KZN to stand out by showcasing its talent, skills and heritage. After all, this station serves as a great platform for all multi-skilled Zululanders,” he said.

The launch, which took place in sweltering Zululand evening heat, was attended by several KZN dignitaries, including MEC for Economic Development Mike Mabuyakhulu.
