Chiefs’ bid angers Pitso

CAPE TOWN — Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has been left furious due to rivals Kaizer Chiefs’ recent bid for his striker, Edward Mangqele.

Mangqele is currently enjoying his loan spell at Moroka Swallows, but Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung intends to have him on board in the upcoming January transfer window period.

Chiefs already lost their bid to sign Ajax Cape Town winger Lebogang Manyama as the Thembisa-born player ended up signing with the Pretoria-based outfit SuperSport United.

According to a report on the Kickoff website, “Jingles” said that the Brazilians will not be pushed to release a player to their arch-rivals.

He added that he will not comment on Chiefs’ statements in the media regarding their pursuit of Mangqele as he was confident that the former Free State Stars forward will stay with the Brazilians next season.

Chiefs’ main objective is to boost their squad ahead of their upcoming CAF Champions League campaign, which will commence early in February next year.
