City stabbing: police release photo

2011-11-09 00:00

THE man responsible for the death of Elizabeth Dearham (45) is still at large and the police have released a CCTV still of a man who might help in solving the case.

The Witness requested the still when it covered the story, but the police could not provide it.

Dearham, originally from Greytown, was murdered in the shower of her work place, Je’Taime Executive Men’s Club, in Peter Kerchhoff Street in July.

Her naked body was found lying on the floor in a pool of blood with a stab wound to the heart. Her ponytail had been cut off and stuffed into her mouth.

At the time her daughter, Nishelle, was quoted as saying that would not talk to the media about the murder on the advice of the police.

The police have released the still in the hope that people will recognise the man shown.

Spokesperson Lieutenant Joey Jeevan said she has no idea as to why the photo was not released at the time.

“I have no idea what transpired as I was on leave,” said Jeevan.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the man pictured should call investigating officer Warrant Officer Milton Hadebe of the Pietermaritzburg detective unit at 033 845 2744 or 083 717 6323, or Captain Vurden van Niekerk at 076 990 4950.

Any witness or informant who wishes to remain anonymous should call Crime Stop at the toll- free number 08600 10111. — Witness Reporter.
