City to improve call centre

THE Msunduzi Municipality plans to improve its call centre after numerous complaints about the inefficiency of the current system.

Many residents have criticised the system and claim they have problems getting through. Some have said the lines often ring for extended periods before being answered and other members of the public say some call centre operators do not have the knowledge to respond to public queries.

A recent executive committee meeting resolved that the manager for fire, rescue and disaster management should be responsible for taking measures to inform staff members, councillors and the public of changes in municipal call centre telephone numbers.
