City’s favourite race: you don’t have to finish first to win

2011-08-18 00:00

Msunduzi Mayor Chris Ndlela (right) and marketing and communications manager Brian Zuma toasting the Witness Capital Climb, which starts at the city hall at 8 am on Saturday. Pietermaritzburg’s favourite race runs for 15 km over a scenic route to the top of World’s View, followed by a helter-skelter plunge downhill to the finish line at Voortrekker High School. If you’re not feeling too sure of the climb, there’s a shorter fun-run option of just over five kilometres, suitable for the whole family. Runners can pre-enter tomorrow at Voortrekker High School from 1 pm to 6 pm or register at the city hall on the morning of the race from 6.30 am to 7.45 am. Whatever you do, don’t miss out on this great race. With over R14 000 in lucky draw prizes to be won from Blomeyer’s Electrical, runners don’t have to finish first to be a winner — but you have to be in it to win it! All finishers will receive a medal (the finish cut-off time is three hours). Call Gail at 082 445 2577 during office hours for more information.
