Classic clash could provide interesting results

2011-05-28 00:00

THERE are two big games today, one in Pretoria and the other at Westville. Together, with a Classic Clash in Durban, it will make for some interesting results.

Very often after the announcement of the Craven Week sides, schools with a number of players in the team do not necessarily perform as they should. The match at DHS where the FNB Classic Clash is against Glenwood — should go the visitors way. There are nine Glenwood players and two DHS players in the KZN team. Will DHS be able to repeat Northwood’s home win against Glenwood? Unlikely, as the Glenwood boy’s were stung and they will ensure that their efforts are better today, but it is never easy for the visitors under the lights at DHS.

Westville host King Edwards from Johannesburg. The latter have lost just one game against Dale while Westville have lost three games, against Queens , St Andrews and Maritzburg College last Saturday. It should be a cracker of a match.

Maritzburg College travel to Pretoria to play against Affies, currently considered the top school side in the country, having won all their games, most by convincing margins.

Where College will likely be found wanting is in the line-outs where Affies have towered above all. This is a particularly tough assignment away from home.

Howick travel to Thomas More and with the latter having a good season, they could face another defeat. The midland’s lads will have to play to the best of their ability. Giant-killers Northwood have another home game against Hillcrest and this could be one way traffic.

Selected fixtures: DHS vs. Glenwood; Westville vs. KES; Affies vs. Maritzburg College; Thomas More vs. Howick; Northwood vs. Hillcrest; Pinetown vs. Voortrekker
