Club assault: brothers get lawyer

2011-09-30 00:00

BROTHERS Jean-Pierre (25) and Nicholas (21) du Plooy have appointed advocate Anand Pillay to represent them in trial for assault with intent to do grievious bodily harm and crimen injuria.

It is alleged that they assaulted a UKZN student, Likando Mbumwae, outside the Crowded House club on September 2. The crimen injuria charge arises from an allegation that they called Mbumwae a k****r.

They are out on R500 bail each. Police said Jean-Pierre is unemployed while Nick is a sport science student. They will be back in court on November 3. — Witness Reporter.
