Club denies involvement in assault

CROWDED House night club owner Carlos de Freitas last week denied reports that violence is the order of the day at his club.

He was responding to an article in The Witness on Wednesday where patrons were reportedly attacked by an off-duty bouncer with an “extending stick” after an argument.

He said his club takes the security of patrons seriously.

“With regards to the article written on Tuesday, we pride ourselves on being a venue where our patrons can enjoy a fun and safe night out. The ‘off duty’ bouncer was last employed here in 2007. He is no longer under our employ,” De Freitas said.

He said when the altercation started, both parties were removed from the premises, without favouritism.

“We are currently investigating further how the ‘extending stick’ got into the club and will take all possible steps to ensure it does not happen again,” he said.
