Coastals don’t waste time

HASHIM Amla and Grant Rowley didn’t waste time in getting after the 170-plus target set by South Western Districts (SWD) in the SAA Provincial Challenge Pool A 45-over match at Chatsworth Oval on Sunday.

Amla (just back from injury) and Rowley added 92 for the first wicket in 15 overs to set up KwaZulu-Natal Coastals’ eight-wicket win with 13 overs to spare.

Rowley made 60 in 48 balls with nine fours and three sixes, while Amla hit 55 off 78 balls with seven fours. First wicket Myron Pillay ended on 40 not out.

Earlier, Dolphins left-arm seamer Saidi Mlongo continued his golden run against SWD with four for 20 as the visitors managed 174 all out in 44,1 overs. Rudi Hillerman of Wartburg, who hit his first first-class ton in the three-day game, made 49 for SWD, as did former Eastern Cape Warriors cricketer Burton de Wett.

Mthokosizi Shezi, formerly of Pietermaritzburg, took two for 26 for Coastals.
