Cody Chetty called up for Warriors clash

2011-12-14 00:00

THE Dolphins are back in action in the SuperSport Series when they take on the Warriors in Port Elizabeth starting tomorrow.

Cody Chetty has been included in the squad after an impressive performance in the One-day Cup match against the Cobras, when he scored 50 off 67 balls.

KZN Inland spinner Tabraiz Shamsi has also been included after taking 8/164 against Namibia in the CSA Provincial Three-day Competition.

Vice-captain Daryn Smit told The Witness that the side has worked on its weaknesses and is ready for the challenge.

“The bowlers have had a real working over these past few days, but they needed it.

“We have not been clinical enough in the bowling department this year,” said Smit.

He added that early wickets against the Warriors are key as their openers can bat for long periods once they settle in at the crease.

Notable absentees from the squad travelling to Port Elizabeth are captain Imraan Khan, injured batsman Ahmed Amla and spin bowler Keshav Maharaj.

The Dolphins are fifth on the log, while the Warriors are bottom of the log.
