Coinless gaming with R160 mln

THE Golden Horse Casino has been revamped at a cost of R160 million, which includes a colour makeover and the replacement of the gigantic Pegasus by three massive horses created by Johannesburg artist Arend Eloff.

Each bronze horse stand over four metres tall and weighs some 800 kg.

This part of the revamp alone cost the casino R2,5 million, which includes the fountain on which they stand and the transport from Johannesburg.

Casino general manager Patrick Beney said the casino’s former, more historical look has been replaced by a kaleidoscope of colour.

“In the past four years R160 million has been injected into the overall revamping of the establishment.

“This progress has taken on the edge of technology and enhanced the guests’ experience with coinless gaming,”said Beney.

“The era of smart cards has lifted the service to our guests to greater height.”

The hotel at the casino now boasts stylish rooms decorated with a Las Vegas theme.

Beney said the casino will keep its new look for the next 10 years.

“We kept the revamping project under wraps until the media started raising questions when Pegusus was brought down.

“We are proud of this development and we are confident that the community will also have a good and enjoyable relationship with the establishment,” he said
