College full of confidence for Hilton match

2011-01-26 00:00

WITH so many matches in the first three weeks of the Sunfoil Schools Night League, it was inevitable that rain would affect some of the games. Monday’s game between Kearsney and Michaelhouse did not take place and the points were shared.

In 2010 Kearsney did not get through to the final stages, despite being one of the top sides in the province as all their matches were washed out, allowing them on to the field only for two games. They fielded for 11 overs against Michaelhouse and batted for 14 overs against Glenwood, with no further play taking place in either match.

Weather permitting, the match between Hilton and Maritzburg College is scheduled to start at 4 pm today.

Last Saturday College had a comfortable win against Hilton with only three College batsmen actually batting. Centuries by both Kewan Harries and Gareth Orr enabled College to reach 259 for one and then have Hilton 200 for nine at the end.

Both teams won their first round games, College against Kearsney and Hilton against Michaelhouse. The lads from up the hill will want to improve on their bowling and catching. It is an important match for both, but College will be the side with greater confidence.
