Collegians: New midlands squash headquarters opened

2011-06-22 00:00

MIKE Short, the chairperson of Midlands Squash, officially opened a new squash complex at Collegians on Monday.

The complex is a joint venture between Midlands Squash and Collegians Squash Club, with a substantial portion of the R1 million investment funded by the National Lotteries Board.

The new complex comprises a dedicated office for the headquarters of Midlands Squash, with a new glassback squash court.

It also features a museum for the history of Squash South Africa and spectator gallery that can seat 200 people.

Midlands Squash has 18 squash clubs under its jurisdiction, with 600 registered players and 105 league teams playing every week.

“Midlands Squash is blessed and most fortunate to have such a wonderful squash complex and spectator facility.

“… this is a complex from which Midlands Squash can grow and benefit the whole of the Midlands Squash fraternity,” said Short.
